What is a Baby Shower????

This past Saturday I attended a friend's baby shower.  The day that I got the invitation I showed it to Adrian and told him about it.  The kids overheard me so they asked what a Baby Shower was. Then with all the innocence that exists in their mind and hearts they came up with their own answer...  Apparently at a baby shower you get a baby and each guests showers a different part of the child.

I thought it was so funny but I explained to them that you "shower" the parents-to-be with gifts for the new baby they are expecting... They understood that it was a party so I left it at that but a few days later when I went to buy the gifts Francesca insisted I buy shampoo and soap because that is what you need for a shower.  So it was the running joke, whenever someone me about my plans for Saturday I would say that I was going to shower a baby.

Lam Baby Shower

Today we went to a baby shower for Jayme & Lilyan. It was a nice little gathering of family and friends at the clubhouse of Luis' (Lilyan's brother) apartment building in downtown.
They served Peruvian food and had some really delicious desserts.

Unfortunately we had to leave early because we were driving up to my dad's house.

Cograts Suzy (Updated)

Today I attended a baby shower for a high school friend of mine. Suzy and her husband are expecting a baby girl in January.

It is awesome to know that our kids would grow up together just like we did.

Baby shower for Francesca

After much planning and preparing today we celebrated my baby shower at Killian Palms Country Club.  I would like to thank my mom for making all the party favors, centerpieces and the cake topper.  Today was a fun filled day with lots of family and friends.

We played lots of games but I think the most exciting one was "What's in your purse".  In this game you create a list of items with a certain point value per item then you have the guests look for these items in their purse and then whoever gets the most points wins.  We decided to group everyone up by tables so it was hilarious to see all these piles of items on each table.

I want to thank everyone who attended because you all made this a memorable day in one way or another.

Francesca received lots of gifts and most importantly LOVE!!

Baby got lots of presents....

On Sunday we had the long awaited Baby Shower...

Thanks to my mom's hard work everything turned out so beautiful. She made some great centerpieces for the tables and some delicious coconut balls to put around the gorgeous cake she had ordered.

On the guestbook table my mom placed a mailbox for the guests to deposit their letters to the baby. I did receive a few letters that day with touching words for our baby. Others told me they would send it to me because they forgot. I really hope to receive many letters so I can include them in the baby's scrapbook.

My friend Sandra made me a beautiful diaper cake and also an umbrella full of "Capias" for all the guests.

We had a great turn out of guests... Some could not make it because of prior engagements or they were feeling under the weather but they were there in spirit.

We were very fortunate to receive lots of presents at the Baby Shower but also throughout this pregnancy some of our friends have been giving us their kids hand-me-downs and I think the most useful will be the Mejia kids' crib.

Baby Shower Preparations Continue...

The baby shower preparations continue on their path and the invitations have been sent out.

The completion of the invitations took a bit longer than I expected because between work and this baby I could not get everything done quickly. I guess that is the price you have to pay when you design every little aspect of the invitation and enclosures.

I will continue to post more shower news as it becomes available.

The Baby Shower Planning has begun....

Well the baby shower planning has begun... We currently have a date and the guest list is being finalized...

The shower will be June 10th.

My mom will be sending out the invitations in the next few weeks. My creative juices are flowing so I will be creating the invitation myself. I like to feel involved so I guess that is my way of contributing.

I will keep everyone posted on the advances.
