Lam Baby Shower

Today we went to a baby shower for Jayme & Lilyan. It was a nice little gathering of family and friends at the clubhouse of Luis' (Lilyan's brother) apartment building in downtown.
They served Peruvian food and had some really delicious desserts.

Unfortunately we had to leave early because we were driving up to my dad's house.

Today I attended a baby shower for a high school friend of mine. Suzy and her husband are expecting a baby girl in January.

It is awesome to know that our kids would grow up together just like we did.

Francesca's Birth Story

On Saturday at around 10 am we were getting ready to go to Costco to buy stuff for Felipe's small birthday party but it started to rain so Adrian told me we should wait for it to stop. Since we weren't going out I started to pick up some clothes that I had washed. A little while later I went to the bathroom and saw some blood in my urine so I freaked out and called Daymarys, my midwife. Her first question was "Are you having any contractions?". I had been feeling great so I said no but that the blood had worried me. She assured me that it was normal and to keep her posted if I started to have contractions.

At around 11:08 am I started having contractions but I didn't call my midwife immediately because I wanted to make sure they were real and consistent. So around 1:15 I called her and told her what was happening and she asked me to keep monitoring my contractions and if they got any closer than the 5 to 7 minutes that they had been to call her. If everything continued the same then she just wanted me to go see her at 4 so she could check me out and see if I was ready.

I arrived at the birthing center at around 4:30 pm. When the midwife did her exams she gave me the bad news that I was only 4 cm dilated. She gave me the choice to go home or just go walk around. I chose to go walk around the Publix that was across the street. At about 6 we returned to the center and I had only dilated another centimeter.

By this time Daymarys chose to keep me there so I started walking around the center and sitting on the exercise ball. Aside from all this Adrian started working on some pressure points that were suppose to induce labor.

At around 9:30 my water broke while I was in the bathroom.

She was kind enough to not steal her big brother's birthday!!!

Francesca was born on July 25th at 11:24 pm.

She weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and is 20 inches long.

Babymoon

This past weekend we had a babymoon at Naples.

Is it still considered a babymoon when you take your 1 1/2 years old with you? Whatever the case maybe we had a very relaxing time. It was nice to disconnect from the real world for a few days and not have to worry about schedules.

While in Naples we decided that the sunset on the beach was a great background for my belly shots.

Baby shower for Francesca

After much planning and preparing today we celebrated my baby shower at Killian Palms Country Club.  I would like to thank my mom for making all the party favors, centerpieces and the cake topper.  Today was a fun filled day with lots of family and friends.

We played lots of games but I think the most exciting one was "What's in your purse".  In this game you create a list of items with a certain point value per item then you have the guests look for these items in their purse and then whoever gets the most points wins.  We decided to group everyone up by tables so it was hilarious to see all these piles of items on each table.

I want to thank everyone who attended because you all made this a memorable day in one way or another.

Francesca received lots of gifts and most importantly LOVE!!

The VERDICT is in for Baby # 2

IT'S A GIRL!!!

I just got back from getting my 18 week ultrasound. It is definitely a girl and everything is great.

I will post pictures later on today...

Baby # 9 is on the way....

Last night during our "grupito" get-together our friend Claudia surprised us all by telling us that she is currently 5 weeks pregnant with her second child... All the girls are hoping it is a girl because there is a shortage of girls in our group but she, of course, wants another boy so she can recycle all of her son's old clothing....

CONGRATS Claud & Ren!!!!

And the babies continue to arrive...

Many of you might not know her but my friend Sandra had a beautiful baby girl a couple of days ago... I went to visit her yesterday. Of course, I took lots of pictures so I will share a few with you now.

Quick Trip to the Hospital gave me a Baby Boy

Now I will tell you all the important pre-birth details...

Earlier Wednesday I had a doctors appointment but I never thought that at night I would be at the hospital with contractions.

I went to work after my appointment and apparently I was having contractions all day but due to my lack of pregnancy experience I thought they were just cramps from the exam that I had at the doctors office.

When I left work I started having different kinds of "CRAMPS" but this time I noticed that they were coming rhythmically and that they were 5 minutes apart. At this moment I realized that Felipe was ready to make his grand arrival.

When I got home and got out of the car, I felt a small release of fluid so I thought that my water had broken, but apparently I had just lost my mucous plug.

We were suppose to go to my mother-in-law's house that night but that didn't happen. I called my doctor's office and the doctor told me to head to Kendall Regional. Luckily the hospital is only 3 minutes away. I was admitted and taken to a Birthing Room.

The contractions starting getting worse as time progressed but I didn't want to get the epidural

He's Here!!

Felipe Ignacio Simó was born on July 26 at 3:56AM. He weighs 6 pounds, 14 ounces and is 19-1/2 inches long. Mommy, daddy and baby are all doing great! I went to see him this morning, and he was awake and feeding. During the extent of my visit he opened his eyes a few times, yawned, let out a couple of little cries, and sneezed about four times. So active already. =)
